I'm a worrier, I must admit. I get headaches that sometimes carry from one day to the next and my anxiety level is often high, especially lately. Why? I think about EVERYTHING. So much so to where I'm literally planning out all of the details of something in my head, or I'm trying to fix a situation that I clearly need help with all by myself. Life can sometimes take a toll on you in ways that are unexpected, and in my life, the unexpected ALWAYS happens. I've been so in need of a break. A break from reality. A break from the day to day routine, and well, I finally got a mini getaway to unload a little baggage that I've been carrying.
My honey surprised me with a little getaway to Galveston Island. Well, sort of, lol. If you know me, then you know that I really don't like surprises. I mean, I like the concept and the element of a surprise is thoughtful, but just not for me, lol. I tend to always have to know what's going on, so he reluctantly ended up telling me his plans because of course, I was asking too many questions. We vacationed at a hotel resort in a quaint little town called Jamaica Beach, which is actually about 35 minutes away from the Seawall and typical tourists attractions. There were beautiful vacation houses, large open fields, gorgeous views of the sunrise and about a 5 minute walk to the beach. I was literally in love with our home away from home for the next 3 nights. It was exactly what I needed to unload, unwind and attempt to let some of my anxiety roll off of me, drift out to sea and just get lost in the abyss.
Of course we couldn't leave without taking pictures, so I decided to utilize my trip to capture some shots on the beach. We arrived approximately 20 minutes before dark and caught a few as darkness filled the sky. I actually loved being out there at night. It was much more peaceful, there was a brisk wind in the air and things seemed a little more intimate. I didn't plan on getting in the water, so I chose to wear a stretch body con dress for comfort and instead of a jacket, I opted for a scarf to cover my shoulders in case the weather was a little chilly. I knew that this accessory could easily double as a light styling piece, as well as an added layer for warmth. With the option of multiple ways that I could tie this scarf, I feel that this was the prefect item for a beach stroll. I tossed my sandals for bare feet to make imprints in the sand and chose a simple pair of gold linear earrings to complete my look. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed my mini getaway. Style Tip of the day
Beach styling should be easy yet stylish. Don't overthink your outfits with unnecessary pieces that will force you to be uncomfortable or make you have to hold items, when you should be as hands free as possible. This is one of the places where less is definitely more, especially when the weather is hot. Think light layers, if you decide to layer and simple pieces and fabrics that provide comfort and are breathable.
