Picture this...It's the era of rockin' roll, sock hops, soda pop, diners, drive-in movies and magical jukeboxes that always seem to play the latest hits. Your favorite guy comes to pick you up on a Saturday afternoon in a smooth leather jacket, white tee, retro shades and worn denim jeans. His hair is slicked back to perfection and he opens up the door to a shiny, new red Classic corvette to let his favorite girl in. He takes you to the hottest diner in town for a good old fashioned burger, fries and a delicious milkshake. What are you wearing?
This yellow flare dress from Mary Ellen's Sewing Room Boutique, put me in the mind of a fifties poodle skirt. I love the girlish charm that poodle skirts possess and with the hemline lifted much higher on this dress, it gives it such a modern look. I decided to play into the theme of a fifties diner, and try to capture the essence of the infamous black and white checkered tile floors, so I chose this blazer that resembled a houndstooth print to jaz it up a bit. I belted the jacket with a gold metal bar belt that the dress came with and decided to wear my houndstooth heels to keep in the theme of the outfit. Minimalistic gold hoop earrings finished the look off and it's the perfect look for a date to the diner with your beaux.
***Style Tip of the day***
Houndstooth is such a classic print. Paired with black or any bold color of your choice, you can create a simple look of great interest.
